Many families treat Dhanteras as the day to bring something new into the home. This Dhanteras shopping guide helps you choose appliances that carry that spirit and still make financial sense. We have picked products that serve a household for years, and we list real prices from our site so you can plan your budget. Read on to see what suits your kitchen, your family’s health and your long-term needs.
Why do people buy appliances on Dhanteras?
Tradition says that buying something new on Dhanteras invites prosperity. Gold, silver and steel utensils are the classic choices. Today, many households extend the idea to appliances. A good appliance serves the family daily, so it carries more lasting value than a decorative item. It also makes festival preparation easier. With that in mind, the best Dhanteras purchase is one you will use for years and maintain well.
Kitchen picks that follow the utensil tradition
Utensils have always been a favourite Dhanteras purchase, so kitchen appliances are a natural fit. A new gas cooktop is a strong place to start. The Glen 3-burner glass top cooktop costs ₹8,999, and the Sujata 4-burner glass top costs ₹8,499. If you want a lower price, the Faber 3-burner glass top costs ₹3,471.
For daily prep, the Philips 600 W juicer mixer grinder with three jars costs ₹5,499. Bakers will like the Kent Atta and Bread Maker at ₹7,499. Browse the full kitchen appliances range or the juicer mixer grinder page to compare more options.
Appliances that protect your family’s health
Health is a lasting kind of wealth, and clean water and air matter every day. The Hindware Elvea IPro 7-litre water purifier uses RO, UF and UV filtration and costs ₹6,999 against a regular price of ₹24,500. Browse more on our water purifier page.
Air quality also deserves attention as winter approaches. The Qubo Q200 smart purifier suits small rooms and costs ₹6,699. Our air purifier collection lists models by room size, so you can match one to your bedroom or living room.
Big-ticket buys that last for years
A refrigerator works every hour of every day, so it rewards careful buying. The Samsung 246-litre direct cool single door refrigerator costs ₹24,999 against a regular price of ₹28,999. Many refrigerators on our site show as sold out right now, so check stock early. You can compare sizes on our refrigerator page.
If an air conditioner is on your list, consider one that also heats. The Daikin 1.5 Ton 3 Star Hot & Cold inverter split AC costs ₹42,999 against a regular price of ₹61,300. Check the BEE star rating before you buy, because a higher rating lowers your electricity bill. You can read how the Bureau of Energy Efficiency labels appliances on its website. See more models on our air conditioner page.
How to buy for real value
A good deal is more than a discount. First, compare the final price rather than the percentage off. Second, match capacity and size to your family. Third, check the warranty on the main parts. Fourth, ask whether installation is included. Finally, read the return and exchange policy before you pay. A slightly cheaper product with no installation support often costs more in the end.
Plan your budget by price band
Smaller purchases under ₹10,000 include cooktops, mixer grinders and water purifiers. These suit families who want to refresh the kitchen without a big outlay. Bigger purchases above ₹20,000 include refrigerators and air conditioners. Spend there only after you compare star ratings, capacity and service support. A short list of two or three models makes the final choice easier and keeps impulse buying in check.
